About Springvale

Springvale occupies land on the northwestern urban fringe of Whanganui where suburban development transitions to more spacious, greener streetscapes. The suburb forms part of the northwest corridor and lies near Virginia Lake and St Johns Hill amenities to the east.

Whanganui District Council prepared the Springvale Structure Plan in 2018 to guide residential development. Plan Change 53, with decisions made in April 2020, rezoned land to facilitate new housing in areas including Mosston Road, Fox Road and Fitzherbert Avenue while protecting cultural and ecological features such as the Tītoki Wetland and ensuring walkable neighbourhoods with cycleway connections.

The suburb continues to develop under this framework, with provisions for neighbourhood parks and stormwater management. Springvale Park, located on London Street, serves as an 11-hectare multi-use sports facility supporting cricket, rugby, rugby league and touch rugby.

Springvale Park

Springvale Park is an 11-hectare complex on London Street offering fields and facilities for multiple sports codes. It supports community recreation and local clubs in the suburb.
