About
Art by the River occupies the historic United Ancient Order of Druids building at 1B Bell Street, a short walk from the Sarjeant Gallery in central Whanganui. The gallery was founded by Richard Browes, a collector of more than 20 years who moved into dealing after a career in law, commercial and media, and shows a curated mix of established and emerging New Zealand artists. Alongside the New Zealand programme sits a Collectables selection holding work by internationally recognised names including Banksy, Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Salvador Dali, Tracey Emin and Grayson Perry. It suits both first-time buyers and established collectors, and works can be bought at the gallery or online.
