What ERO found
The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO judged teaching to be of good quality and found that learners with complex needs are well supported, structured literacy is in place across the school and structured maths is being introduced. It noted a strong focus on wellbeing and belonging, and said school planning and conditions for improvement are well established.
A large majority of learners meet expected levels in reading and maths, but only a small majority do so in writing, and results are not yet equitable across groups in reading and writing.
Attendance is a concern: the school is behind the government’s regular attendance target and did not yet have a suitable plan to lift it, although chronic absence is falling. ERO also found two compliance gaps, in keeping full safety-check records for staff and in the board’s oversight of risk for trips and outdoor activities, and the board is addressing both.
The priorities are to lift engagement and achievement, embed structured literacy and maths, use data better in teaching, update programmes for the new curriculum and take targeted action on attendance.
