What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Profile Report from September 2023, written early in its Te Ara Huarau improvement work with the school, after an acting principal was appointed at the start of that year.

ERO found that the school identifies students with additional and complex needs and keeps track of them, with specialist programmes, in-class support and extra staff helping them engage and progress. Teachers and support staff learn together to meet students’ varied needs, and the board directs resources to where learners need them.

ERO and the school chose to look at how well the school meets individual learners’ needs, because the school’s own information showed many students needed extra support to engage and make faster progress in literacy and maths.

The school’s priorities are ongoing professional learning for staff, writing down its own local curriculum with shared expectations for teaching and culturally responsive practice, and putting a stronger professional growth cycle in place for teachers.
