What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a Te Ara Huarau School Profile Report from August 2023. This kind of report sets out what ERO and the school will evaluate together, here how well junior school teaching responds to each student’s learning needs so they are ready for the senior school.

ERO pointed to a positive culture built on strong relationships between staff, students and whānau, pastoral and academic mentoring shaped around each student, a collaborative staff and a cohesive leadership team, and students who have a real say in decisions about their learning and school life.

From here the school plans to build a schoolwide assessment framework for junior literacy and numeracy, give teachers professional learning in assessment and a deeper grasp of curriculum levels in those areas, develop a curriculum shaped by the knowledge of local hapū and iwi, and use its Effective Teacher Profile in planning and teaching.
