What ERO found

The Education Review Office’s latest report on the school is a School Report from October 2025. ERO found that success and progress are rising for all learners, that teaching in reading, writing and maths is of high quality, and that school planning and conditions are driving strong performance.

Most learners meet or exceed the expected curriculum level in reading and maths and a large majority do so in writing, with results fair across groups in reading and writing and becoming fairer in maths. Learners with complex needs are well supported and the school reports usefully to whānau.

ERO’s main concern was attendance: fewer than half of learners attend regularly, the school is behind the government target, and regular attendance and chronic absence were not yet improving, although a plan was being developed.

The school’s priorities are to lift attendance, update assessment for the new literacy and maths requirements, report more accurately on the progress of students with additional needs, and embed structured literacy and new maths programmes in line with the refreshed curriculum.

Enrolling

As a state-integrated Catholic school, St Anne’s gives preference to families with a connection to the Catholic faith, such as a child who is baptised or being prepared for baptism, or a Catholic parent. Preference is confirmed with the proprietor’s representative, and non-preference applications are handled by the principal. Attendance dues apply and are compulsory.

The enrolment page has the enrolment form, preference certificate and attendance dues agreement, and new entrants and their parents are invited to an induction morning tea before starting.
